Meaning of Ibaadah

Ibaadah means obeying Allah by doing that which He has commanded and avoiding that which he has forbidden, (in speech and action whether inward or outward) whilst loving Allah, fearing Him and putting one's hopes in Him. 

Allah (SWT) says in the Quran:

I did not create jinn and humans except to worship Me.

[Adh - Dhariyat | Ayah 56]
